Third volume. A scare. New structuring for production. From Salvador to Guarajuba, both in Bahia. The Flerte Flamingo quartet took, to the city, a few clothes and musical instruments. Immersion. This is how the third chapter of the series Duas Músicas de Flerte Flamingo was born. Outras Duas Músicas de Flerte Flamingo is already available on streamings.

A new wave of suspense is established. Acid sounds mix with velvet. Keyboard and guitar create a dichotomy between something acoustic and technological. At the beginning of the first verse, Rodrigo Santos' guitar base wanders through the melody with fingering almost like an omnipresent character while Igor Quadros' drums draw a 4x4 metric in blues time signature that sometimes even sounds purposely truncated. Suddenly, the vocals complete the harmony. With a bittersweet and soft timbre, Leonardo Passovi decorates the environment with splashes of drive, a factor that gives a more accentuated flavor to the rhythmic conjuncture of (Sozinho) A Gente Pensa no Conflito. It is curious that, in a song that deals, as its name suggests, with conflicts in a relationship and the search for the reasons for their causes, the sound structure is divided between moments of chaos from the mix of synth-pop and new wave, and an anaesthetic calmness through the guitar lines in MPB vibe.

An atmosphere of difficult characterization. There are psychedelic elements, at the same time that César Neto's bass groove imputes corpulence and rhythmic cadence in the midst of a soft and stimulating sonority. In a certain way, this conjuncture built a clothing inclined to indie rock that, when Passovi receives the company of Neto and Santos on vocals, this chorus spreads a spice of melancholy nostalgic flavor in Rua Cidade Nova. The immersion in this feeling ends up evaporating quickly and painlessly with the definitive entrance of the first verse, moment in which the lyrical narrative shows itself talking about love.

Like water following the course of a river. Like the wind blowing through the cracks in the trunks and stones. Like the noise of the waves. Outro (Dia sem Pôr do Sol em Guarajuba), a monosyllabic chorus song whose perfect synchrony and tuning is surrounded by a guitar with linear riffs that drink from the MPB school. Outras Duas Músicas de Flerte Flamingo shows, above all, a band whose sound is competent and synchronous. Just by the melody, the listener can notice the existence of a chemistry between the members that overflows through the instrumental notes and the soft and subtly hallucinogenic environment created by the songs.

Although it only contains three tracks, the EP manages to transit through musical genres that range from new wave, to synth-pop, to indie rock. Produced by Fernando Tavares, Outras Duas Músicas de Flerte Flamingo is an unquestionable sonic comfort.

It is curious that this comfort emerges from even an elementally simple cover art. Made by Gabriel Dantas, the junction of the sea and tropical leaves in shades that move between pastel and warm aspects, it conveys the idea of fluidity, but also of relaxing and beauty. All factors found in the relationship, the overwhelmingly lyrical theme of the EP.

Speaking of love and its consequent conflicts, Flerte Flamingo’s work is an open door to reflections on imposing acts and unpleasant behavior in a relationship, but it is also a light on the beauty of sharing and the meeting of soul mates.

Released on 05/28/2021 via Rockambole, Outras Duas Músicas de Flerte Flamingo is an unfortunately short work. But its sound quality and vocal tuning from all the members of Flerte Flamingo makes it an audibly fruitful product and sheds light on a group with a promising future.
